He was predeceased by: his father Albert Ruiz. He is survived by: his wife Norma Garcia-Ruiz; his son Adrian; his stepdaughters, Maisie, Leila Yniguez and Selena Young (Tim); his mother Celia Ruiz; and his siblings, Dan Ruiz, Dyan Ruiz and Rita Smallwood. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
