He was predeceased by: his sister Julia; and his wife Maria Imelda Montoya. He is survived by: his siblings, Maurilio, Bertoldo and Angel; and his children, Hilda Rios, Otilio Montoya Jr., Anabel Tanabe, Julia Vega, Theresa Montoya, Juan Tanabe and Albert Vega. He is also survived by ten grandchildren as well as one great grandson.
