He was predeceased by: his parents, R. V. Broom and Flossie Mae Broom; his sister Verna Mae Kid; and his son Richard Broom. He is survived by: his wife Gloria Broom; his sister Willie Dean; and his children, James Curtis (Susan Broom), Sharon Kaye (Marshall King), Karen (Fred Ferbrache) and Thomas (Secret Broom). He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
