He was predeceased by: his parents, JD Merchant and Mollie Merchant; his wife Mary Merchant; and his son John Merchant. He is survived by: his daughter Carolyn Kehrman (Robert) of Hudson Oaks, TX; his daughter-in-law Charlene Merchant; his grandchildren, Alexandra Kehrman, Stephen Kehrman, Kylie Kehrman, Isaac Kehrman, Sandy Kehrman, Caleb Kehrman, John Ezekiel Kehrman, Paige Merchant and Dalton Merchant; and his great grandchild Seylah Williams.
