He is survived by: his wife Bonita Yvonne Goodwin; his brother Charlie Kirkes; his children, Gay Kirkes (Ray), Kirk Kirkes (Kitten), Dell Kirkes Greenwood (Trey), Ross Kirkes (Creta) and Doug Scott; and his grandchildren, Marty Pomroy, Cassie Bailey, Tyler Pomroy, Brett Pomroy, Kari Lopez-Perez, Klay Kirkes, Hart M. Greenwood, IV, Hugh Greenwood, Jessie Bonner, Shelby Kirkes and Grady Kirkes. He is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
