She was predeceased by: her husband Richard Smith; her grandson Richard Smith III; her parents, Wilbur Howell and Ruth Howell; and her siblings, Betty Hamlen, Wilbur II and Harry Howell.
She is survived by: her children, Joan Gay, Patricia Chapman and Richard "Rick" Smith Jr.; her grandchildren, Janna, George, Kaitlin Gay, Brian Smith and Dominique Chapman; her great grandchildren, Elliott, Frances Kays, Leah, Emily, Abigail Gay, Cora, Milo Schweitzer, Brian Smith, Richard IV and Mckayla Smith; and her siblings, Donna Gara, Pete, Richard and James "Butch" Howell.
