He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Theresia; his sons, William G. Malthaner Jr. (Caren) and James Henry Malthaner; his sister Ruth Wilcox; and his niece Karen Gareis-Murry.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Bill, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriner's Hospitals for Children, honoring a life well-lived and deeply cherished.
