Ethel" Athena Mirisis, 91, of Hamilton entered into God's eternal rest peacefully on Monday, August 13, 2018 at home. Ethel was born in Chios, Greece and emigrated to the United States in 1947 with her late husband Nikolaos Mirisis. They resided in Trenton, New Jersey until 1970 when they moved to Hamilton, New Jersey. She was employed for many years assembling electrical switches and sockets for Circle F Industries of Trenton, NJ. Throughout her life she did God's work by caring for her son Gus. Athena enjoyed gardening, cooking, and especially enjoyed spending time with her three grandchildren. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, The Ladies Philoptochos Society, the St. George Senior Citizens, the Agia Markela and St. George Sikousis Societies as well. Daughter of the late Kostantinos and Irini (Kalargyros) Mamas; beloved wife of the late Nikolaos Mirisis; sister of the late Ioannis, Apostolos, Stavros, Stella, and Eleni; Athena is survived by her two loving sons, George Mirisis and wife Theodora of Hamilton, NJ, and Gus Mirisis; three grandchildren, Nicholas Mirisis of Raleigh, NC, Andrew Mirisis and wife Eleni of Rockville, MD; and Christina Mirisis of DePere, WI; a great-granddaughter, Athena Theodora; a brother, Adamantios Mamas and wife Sotiria of Athens, Greece; as well as many nieces and nephews in Lancaster, PA, New York, Athens, and Chios, Greece. Greek Orthodox funeral services will be held Friday, August 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1200 Klockner Rd., Hamilton, NJ. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Ave., Hamilton, NJ. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the church prior to services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1200 Klockner Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619.
