He was predeceased by: his parents, George Whitfield and Golden Whitfield; his brother Lester; his sister-in-law Carolyn Whitfield; and his daughter Catherine.

He is survived by: his wife Louise; and his children, Sarah, Ron, Cindi, Jim and Robin. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
