He was predeceased by: his parents, John Harmer and Frances Harmer; his son Stephen (Karen Harmer); and his siblings, John, Joseph, Frank, Phillip Harmer, Catherine Harmer and Mary Harmer.

He is survived by: his wife Virginia; his daughter Lauren Ruthrauff (William); and his grandchildren, Alicia Ruthrauff, Alexander Ruthrauff (Carol) and Stephanie Farthing.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Fulfil in Neptune.
