He was predeceased by: his mother Jacqueline Mitch; and his sister Debbie Mitch. He is survived by: his spouse Elke I.; his sons, Alex McCorristin, Ian McCorristin (Briana) and Kevin McCorristin (Ashley); and his siblings, Michael McCorristin (Diane), Evelyn Peters (Philip), Maureen Donolon (Bill), Jamie Lennox (Brian) and Kelly McCorristin. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe's name to The Dystonia Medical Research Foundation.
