He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Jack Altemus and Julia Montanaro Altemus; his father-in-law Ernie Frahm; and his son Michael Altemus. He is survived by: his brother Jack Altemus; his wife Cindy Frahm Werner; his son Steven Werner (Niki Werner); his granddaughter Madison Werner; his mother-in-law Cynthia Frahm; his sister-in-law Laura Altemus; his brother Chuck; his sister-in-law Terrie Frahm; his nieces, Erika and Ingrid; his nephew Karl; his daughters, Jennifer Altemus and Natalie Altemus; and his grandchildren, Jessica, Kacie and Sophia.
