He was predeceased by: his brother James. He is survived by: his wife Joanne E. Underwood; his sons, Charles L. Vandergrift (Mark) and Richard Carey (Patrice); his siblings, Thomas (Pat), Harry (Maureen), Phil (Betty), Jane Ellen (Bob) and Lou (Sharon); and his nieces and nephews, Josh (Loretta), Sean (Jen), Beth (Dan), PJ Crystal (Josh), Tim (Bobbie Joe), Theresa, Harry, Maddie, Krystal, Chalie and Frankie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the American Cancer Society, Diabetes Foundation and Infectious Disease Center.
