He was predeceased by: his grandson James Brophy. He is survived by: his wife Doris Dowling; and his children, Kathleen Decker, Joseph Dowling, Jr., Kenneth Dowling (Deidre), Marie O'Neill (Brian), Doris Brophy, Joan Timoldi and John Dowling (Terry). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
