He was predeceased by: his parents, George A. Medzie and Helen Medzie; his sibling Shirley O'Brien (John); and his son John Haas. He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline Medzie; his siblings, Catherine Perks (Robert), Charles Medzie (Donna), Helen Ott (Terry), James Medzie and Joseph Medzie; and his children, Teresa Haas (George Flunt), Nancy Halloran (William), Kathleen Haas (Christopher), Joseph Haas and Michael Haas. He is also survived by several grandsons and granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.
