He was predeceased by: his parents, Alice Stone and Howard K Handy. He is survived by: his significant other Edith (Edie); and his children, Delsea Schaffer (Dave), Leanne Zilinski (late Walter Zilinski), Trobie Thompson (Tommy) and Allen Handy (Sharon).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wesleyan Church in his name.
