He was predeceased by: his brother William Kirn. He is survived by: his wife Josephine Kirn; his children, Robert J. Kirn, Jr. (Teresa), Joyce Martens, Kathleen Mattei (Louis) and Janice Kirn Sottilaro (Richard); his granddaughters, Elizabeth Marchese and Darlene Hachett (late Brian Kirn); his great grandchildren, Aiden Hill, Iaerton Rozanski, Justin Marchese and Olivia Marchese; and his sisters, Ruth Flippo and Isabell Wagner.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
