He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Cookus and Mary Ann Cookus (Andrews); his daughter Cindy Lynn Cookus; his brothers, Don (Laverne), Rich (Bettie), Gary and Walter; and his grandson Jake Cookus.
He is survived by: his former wife Linda Woodyard; his children, Jim Cookus (Angel) of Wymore and Kim Cookus-Askew of Beatrice; his grandchild Robin Foster (family: Jessica Perrett, Christina "Chrissy" Devor, Zach Askew, Austin Cookus, Jordan Cookus, Zowie Askew); his great grandchildren, Addi, Jax, Kennedi, Nova, Wyatt, Gabriel, Destiney and Dominick; his sister-in-law Dawn Cookus; and his close friend Lynette Lundstedt. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
A memorial has been established to the family for future designation with Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore in charge.
