It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Doug E Whelchel of Newcastle, Nebraska, born in Sioux City, Iowa, who passed away on September 6, 2020, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin Whelchel and Rose Whelchel (Wagner); and his siblings, Terry, Jerry, Jean, Darlene, La Vonne and Dorothy.
He is survived by: his wife Luzon "Jackie" Whelchel; his children, Kevin Whelchel (Jean) of Newcastle and Jodie Hanner (Roger) of Sioux City; his grandchildren, Cody Hanner (Jessica), Derek Whelchel (Lizzy), Amanda Gore (Travis), Dylan Whelchel (Mandy), Seth Hanner and Charity Hanner; his great grandchildren, Helaina, Audriahna, Maaliyah, Roselahni, Elsie and Kendall; and his siblings, Laura, Shirley, Betty, Joan, Karen and Sheryl. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
