He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolph Hynek and Mollie Hynek (Svarc); and his brother Howard Hynek. He is survived by: his wife Lorene; his daughters, Barb Mayhew (Doug) of Kimberling City, MO and Sandy Maahs (Duane) of Lincoln, NE; and his siblings, Glen Hynek of Lincoln, NE and Sharon. He is also survived by four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in his honor with the family in charge.
