He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Small and Evelyn Small (Kirkland); and his brother-in-law Leroy Fullerton. He is survived by: his wife JoAnn Humphrey of Lexington; his children, Dennis (Diane) of Kearney, Deb (Michael Conley) of Kearney and Michael "Lewi" (Lisa) of Hastings; his siblings, Gary (Jan) of Vermillion and Beverly Fullerton of Kearney; his grandchildren, Amy Spotanski (Andy), Douglas Rader (Ellen), Jared Small (Erin) and Kyle Small (Torie Miner); and his great grandchildren, Maggie, Emma, Xavier, Brooklyn, Makenzee, Isla, Jameson, Jaren, Samantha, Colton and Sterling.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Lexington Senior Center, Lexington Volunteer Fire Department or The Lexington Public Library.
