He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank R Kerchal and Bessie Rose Kerchal (Antone); his brother Ron (Elsie Kerchal); and his niece Lynette Spence. He is survived by: his former wife Elsie Merrill; his wife Reta of Lexington; his sisters, Linda and Leane Kerchal of Ogallala; his sister-in-law Anne Kerchal of Sterling; his children, Dave Kerchal (Kathy) of Wauneta, Rhonda Bischoff (Bill) of Wauneta and Steve Kerchal (Linda) of Culbertson; his stepson Darin Owens of Omaha; his grandchildren, Justin Kerchal (Rosey) of Gilbert, AZ, Jenae Bischoff of Las Vegas, NV, Logan Bischoff (Mallory) of Beaver, OK and Jesse Kerchal (Jasmine Laird) of McCook; his niece Shawna Shelley of Loveland, CO; his nephew Steve Kerchal of Sterling, CO; his stepgrandson Blaze Owens of Redwood City, CA; his stepgreat-grandson Jason Brown of Gilbert, AZ; his stepgrandchildren, Heather, Kiley and Nikki; and also, Jill and Jeff.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Eldon's memory, has been suggested to the Wauneta FFA Chapter.
