He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Johnson and Minnie Johnson (Dischner); his son Edward; and his son-in-law Mark Gerardi. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Murphy; his children, Jeffrey and Melanie Gerardi; his grandchildren, Genae Gerardi, Shane Johnson, Connor Johnson and Kelsey Millett (Brent); and his great grandchild Amaya Millett. He is also survived by one brother, two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or the Legacy of the Plains in Gering, Nebraska.
