He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph Myron and Evelyn Olafson (Newberg); his wife Claudia Schindler; his former wife Karen Olafson (Lindberg); his brother Jerry Olafson; his sister-in-law Jane Olafson; his sister Joy Olafson Grant; his brother-in-law Richard Grant; and his son Michael Olafson. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He served as volunteer on RSVP in Alliance, NE for 5 years.
Memorials to: United Methodist Church - for the youth program Hemingford, Nebraska as well as Box Butte General Hospital for equipment to care for patients.
