He is survived by: his brother Glenn of Falls City; his half-sister Wylene Picton of Falls City; and his nieces and nephews, Anne Brittell of Falls City, Brian Rider of Smithville, MO, Kenny of Falls City and Jennifer Rider of Falls City.

“Words cannot relieve the sadness within the hearts of those who knew him. "Charlie" and I were roommates in the dorm at UNL and over the next three years off campus. We both worked at Russell Stover Candies. As a fellow Falls City Tiger classmate, we also shared many of the same classes. He showed up with a Teddy Bear under his arm when he visited us after our first child was born. Our deepest sympathy is extended to the friends and family of "Charlie". - John and Suzann Surman”
