He was predeceased by: his daughter Jean Syring; his siblings, Christopher Fricke (Gladys), Gary Fricke, Evie Daro (Walt) and Anna Mae Powell; his brothers-in-law, Richard Kobza and Robert Davis; and his great grandchildren, Stephanie Syring and Calvin Sundberg.

He is survived by: his wife Arlene; his children, JoAnn Messing (John) of Shelby, Teresa Fricke of Pleasant Valley, MO, Marcia Dittfurth (Larry) of College Station, TX, Dan Fricke (Darcee) of Lincoln and Mary Parker (Matt) of Harrison, NE; his son-in-law Ben Syring of David City; his sisters, Rose Marie Kobza, Arliene Kobza (Joe), Ramona Davis and Marilyn Zegers (Zeek); and his siblings-in-law, Andrea Fricke and Rodney Powell. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
