He was predeceased by: his son Russell Arnold; his wife Myrna; his parents, Forrest Grunden and Blanche Grunden; his parents-in-law, Arnold and Vera Hibbs; and his siblings, Harold, Betty Slack, Jensen and Audrey Krone.

He is survived by: his children, Harlan Harvey, Gina Luray, Harris Harold, Gina Essink Syracuse (Dennis) and Harris Maxwell (Joanie); his granddaughter Megan Welch (Dawson); his sons, Lane, Jett, Rudy, Hance Grunden Curtis (Victoria), Brandon Essink Syracuse, John Essink Lincoln, Jace and Dallas Grunden Maxwell; his brother-in-law Jerrold Hibbs Smithfield (Jan); and his friend Marlene.
