He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Dettmann and Mildred Dettmann (Wendt); his wife Bernice; his daughter Lisa; and his parents-in-law, Ben and Freda Roth.
He is survived by: his children, Brad (LeAnn), Kay Woeste (Bob) of Bismarck, ND and Ross (Jody); his grandchildren, Heather Reis, Shane Dettmann (Kelly), Tyler Woeste (Valerie), Lindsey Dettmann, Samantha Mattson (Dusty) and Kayla Ahnen (Eric); his great grandchildren, Erin Dennis (Nate) and Stephen Reis (Judy); his grandchildren, Zion, Isabella, Max Dettmann, Lauren, Makenna, Kate Woeste, Bailey, Jacob and Lucas Mattson; and his sisters-in-law, Jackie Seibel, Kim Heidelman and Veryl Roth.
