She was predeceased by: her parents, John Merkel and Erna Merkel (Weisenburger); her husband Walter Eckholm; and her siblings, Lee, Arnold and Ilene.
She is survived by: her children, Dallas (Barb) of Bismarck, Bryce (Scarlett) of Bismarck and Candice Gartner (Kelly); her grandchildren, Ryan Gartner (Amanda), Tyler Gartner (Keah), Brandon (Tess), Jordan, Marlee Buechler (Jordan), Micah Silliman (Ethan) and Levi; her great grandchildren, Emmy, Hunter, Elly, Parker and Ava Gartner; her grandchildren, Chloe, Liam, Oliver Eckholm, Finn, Briar Buechler and Adreanna Kolb; and her sisters, Arvada Johnson and Geraldine Germundson Minot (Bud). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to the ND Veterans Cemetery.
