He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert A. Birdzell and Agnes H. Birdzell (Arnold); his grandmother Bessie Leola Perring Birdzell; his aunt Dorothy Birdzell; his uncles, John, Luther Earle, F. Douglas Birdzell, Aloysius and George Arnold; and his nephew Anthony J. Leingang.
He is survived by: his sister Lee Ann Leingang (Duane); his niece Laura Freeman; and his nephew Robert Leingang. He is also survived by her three sons, a stepson and a stepdaughter.
