She was predeceased by: her husband James Truman "J. T." Venable; her parents, Edward Hiatt and Jo Earsley Boyd Hiatt; her grandson Douglas "Tyler" Phillips; her son-in-law Lloyd R. Whitley; and her siblings, Irene Hiatt Simmons, Mildred Hiatt Bondurant, Delphia "Fenton" Hiatt and Edward "Carlman" Hiatt.

She is survived by: her children, James Truman "Jamie" Venable, Jr. (Teresa Cornacchione) of Statesville, NC, Dru Whitley of Winston-Salem, NC and Nancy Broome (Tim); her grandchildren, Garrett Phillips (Audrey) of Winston-Salem, NC, Adam Broome (Kristen) of Kannapolis, NC and Chris Broome (Katya) of Fort Worth, TX; her great grandchildren, Sawyer Phillips of Cullman, AL, Charley Phillips of Winston-Salem, NC, Garrison Broome of Kannapolis, NC and Kamilla Broome of Fort Worth, TX; her granddaughter-in-law Brittany Phillips-Nalley (Tim) of Cullman, AL.; and her friend Wendy Allen. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews.
