He was predeceased by: his parents, George Bryant Mayes and Martha Haynes Mayes; his daughter Yvonne McElroy; and his grandson Nathan Combs. He is survived by: his wife Donna Mayes; his children, Nicholas Mayes (Laura), Teresa Smith (Dathan) and Jason Billings; his siblings, Joe Mayes (Jennifer), Terry Mayes (Dawn) and Angela Leonard (George); and his mother-in-law Phyllis Tuttle Merrell. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
