He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lucas Sr. and Mable Adams Benjamin; his sister Betty Benjamin; and his aunts and uncles, Rose Cooper, Dorothy Aldridge, Barbara Rawlins, Ann Adams, Steve Adams and Marion Adams.
He is survived by: his sisters, Sandra Johnson of Bronx, NY and Jamie Booker of Winston-Salem, NC; his aunts, Carretha Gilliam, Mildred Dendy and Carolyn Jones; his uncle Joseph Adams; and his friend Samuel Branch. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives.
