It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Jack Metcalf (Winston Salem, North Carolina), born in Newport, Tennessee, who passed away on September 3, 2023, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Levi Metcalf and Artel Metcalf; and his siblings, Lloyd, Pearl, Irene, Stella and Ernie.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Metcalf; his siblings, Carolyn Smith and Carl Metcalf; his children, John Metcalf, Cindy Green, Dorin Metcalf, Jane Grant-Damminger, Jack Metcalf Jr., Gary Metcalf, Faith Gentry (Brandon Gentry) and Brandon Metcalf (Amanda Metcalf); and his grandchildren, Mahlon, James, Brittney, Tyler, Megan and Emma. He is also survived by 5 other grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to either plant a tree in his honor (as he loved sitting in the shade), or send donations to the American Kidney Fund or Hospice of the Piedmont (in High Point, NC).
