He is survived by: his wife Lisa Lavette Johnson; his sons, Favbeion Duarell and David Montrel Melton (Jennifer) of Indian Trail, NC; his children-in-law, Jercoby Polk (Jalonda) and Lakeshia Pratt of Rochester, NY; his grandchildren, Amari Melton and Tamuria Jaleyah Melton of Wingate, NC; his sister Rosa Short of McFarlan, NC; his aunts and uncles, Lucille Melton, Melcine Townsend, Norvie Townsend and Henry Pratt; his siblings-in-law, Elder Leomi Powe (Grover), Maggie Crawford (James), Dr. Debbie Taylor, Lyra Johnson, Kathin Pegues, Rev. Lorinzer Johnson (Hattie), Rev. Lynwood Johnson (Larvia), Cary Powe and Daniel Taylor; his godchildren, Avery Hailey (Kiya), Princeton Pegues and Micah Ervin; and his nieces, Kendra Burns (Terral), Lakeya Lindsey (Leon), Shannon Lewis (Tideus) and Lauren Taylor. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
