She was predeceased by: her parents, Leon Carteret and Lula Duncan Carteret; her husband Hiriam Buffkin, Sr.; and her children, Janice Sellers, Jeanette Clewis and James "Meffy" Buffkin.

She is survived by: her son Hiram "Pete" Buffkin, Jr.; her wife Stacy of Erwin; and her sister Elva Harris of Whiteville. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; great grandchildren.
