He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew Sorrell and Truvie Myatt Sorrell; his daughter Teresa Sorrell; and his brother Gordon Sorrell. He is survived by: his wife Betty Stevens Sorrell; his son Steve Sorrell; his granddaughter Michelle Denning (Bob); and his great grandchild Will Denning.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Building Fund 15772 NC Hwy. 50 Garner, NC 27529.
