He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Jackson Abbott and Naomi Thompson Abbott. He is survived by: his wife Mae Riggan Abbott; his children, Susan Abbott, Teresa Hawkins (Eugene) of Norlina and Dennis Abbott (Jan) of Henderson; and his sister Myrtle Grissom of Henderson. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; and several honorary grandchildren.
