She was predeceased by: her father John Tipton. She is survived by: her sons, Jason Ridenhour (Becca Rainey Ridenhour) of Davidson and Michael Ridenhour (Rachel Zarkin) of Raleigh; her siblings, Patricia Tipton of Mills River and Ned Tipton of Norwalk, Connecticut; her stepdaughters, Sarah Austin of Decatur, Rachel Mongno and Rebekah Austin of Asheville; and her grandchildren, Henry, Kennedy, Madelyn Ridenhour of Davidson, Elizabeth, Ruth and Julia Slaven of Decatur, Georgia. She is also survived by aunt, numerous cousins.
A GoFundMe account, in lieu of flowers, has been established in Susan's memory to benefit students in the music department at Asheville High School.
