He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Buchanan; and his brother David Buchanan. He is survived by: his wife Linda Hill Buchanan; his daughters, Angela Phillips and Audrey Best (Ricky); his grandchildren, Paige Green (Cody), Ashley Leatherwood (Sawyer) and Jason Best; his extended family Jerry Phillips; and his pet Chili.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Clyde First Baptist Preschool, attention: Sandy Osborne, where Steve and Linda frequently volunteered.
