She was predeceased by: her parents, Glenn Messer and Burr Leatherwood Messer. She is survived by: her husband Daniel Messer; her daughters, Dr. Danna Gibson (Gary) and Joy Rathbone (Keith); her grandchildren, Jonathan Gibson (Kelley), Dr. Blayke Anerin (Chip), Cassie Higgins (Alex), Joseph Gibson, Amanda Henderson (Andrew), Kaleb Rathbone (Monica) and Rachel Trantham (Tyler); and her great grandchildren, Kayla, Kourtney, Aiden, Julia, Eli, Shep, Jacob, Jonathan, Mason, Grant, Reid, Joe, Abigail, Hawk and Jett.
