He was predeceased by: his father Ed Mathis; his daughter Nichole Mathis Reeves; and his siblings, Leroy Mathis and Betty Gribble. He is survived by: his wife Eva Barnes Mathis; his son Stacey Wyatt (Amy); his granddaughters, Arden Grace Reeves, Christian Singleton (Drew) and Leah Wyatt; and his son-in-law Bryan Reeves. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Arden Grace Reeves.
