He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Augustus Childers and Alma Elizabeth Jones Childers. He is survived by: his sister Christine Williams of Mooresville; his son Scott Childers; his grandchildren, Cassidy and Clay Childers; his daughter Robin Childers (David Sobol) of Gaffney, SC.; his close friend Rachel Kennerly of Waxhaw; his sons, Andy (Shawna Stegall), Byron (Margie Stegall) and Tommy (Tina Stegall); his grandchildren, Justin, Daniel, Harley, Jewel, Adam, Matthew and Sydney McClure; and his great grandchild Logan.
