He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Claude McSwain and Hazel Virginia Tucker McSwain; his brother Martin McSwain; his parents-in-law, Reece and Beatrice Edwards; and his siblings-in-law, Lucille Edwards Haney and Harold Haney.
He is survived by: his wife Susie Edwards McSwain; his sister Ann Caudle (Larry) of Polkton; and his siblings-in-law, Lynn Edwards (Johnnie) of Peachland and Brenda Thomas (Tony) of Randleman. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
