He was predeceased by: his wife Essie Mae Whitford; and his parents, Gilbert Arthur Whitford Jr. and Lula Ipock Whitford. He is survived by: his children, Gilbert Michael "Buddy" Whitford (Gloria) of Vanceboro, Diana Whitford Hoult (Tom) of Columbia, SC and Elizabeth "Bunny" Whitford Schramm (Pete) of Ernul, NC; and his sister Patricia Whitford Eatmon. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren.
