She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Grover C. Whitmire of Sunny View, NC and Inez Cothran Whitmire; her husband Paul Albert Romeo; her children, Paul S. Romeo of Virginia Beach, VA, Gina A. Romeo (Shawn) of Charlotte, NC, Matthew C. Romeo (Rainey) of Raleigh and Jordan W. Romeo (Olya) of Cary, NC; her grandchildren, Andy Hoctor, Karli Hoctor and Max Romeo; and her siblings, Karen W. Copley (Walker) of Spartanburg, SC, Glenn C. Whitmire (Sheila) of Sunny View, NC and Carol W. Harwell (Rick) of Gastonia, NC. She was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In remembrance of Kathy, memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse, St Jude's Children's Hospital, or Mercury One.
