He was predeceased by: his parents, Grady Lawrence, Sr. and Bessie Williams. He is survived by: his wife Reba Paulette Johnson Charles; his children, Thomas, John Degree, Mary Hillman, Clarissa Williams, Lisa Charles and Tammy Charles; his stepson Aaron Johnson; and his siblings, Grady Lawrence, Jr., Shirley Clemmons, Susie Krieger, Alice Villaflor and Ann Perkins. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, eighteen great-great grandchildren and three great-great-great grandchildren.
