She was predeceased by: her parents, William Hugh Haithcox and Lulu Bell Haithcox; her husband Donald Jason Swicegood; her son-in-law Joe C. Shumake; and her siblings, Fred Haithcox, Roy Lee Haithcox, James Haithcox, Benny Haithcox and Rachel Holland. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elder Center or Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
