He was predeceased by: his parents, William Clyde Gupton and Thelma Thompson Gupton; and his sister Mary Ann Gupton Ayscue. He is survived by: his son Joseph Gray Gupton (Michelle Doughtie); his grandson Parker Gray Gupton; his stepgranddaughter Lily Pollard; his brother William Ervin Gupton (Willie Gupton); his nephews, Corbett Gupton, Scott and David Ayscue; and also Lucy Tripp.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his grandson Parker Gupton college fund at Providence Bank in Tarboro, North Carolina or the American Cancer Society.
