He was predeceased by: his brother Nathan Goldsmith. He is survived by: his parents, Walter Goldsmith Sr. of Candler and Martha Hollifield Goldsmith of Candler; and his siblings, Gary Goldsmith of Arden, Sherry Carver of Asheville, David Goldsmith (Gwendalin) of Candler, Russell Goldsmith (Lisa), Spring Creek and Michael Goldsmith (Rhonda) of Marshall. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
